Powering energy transition with residential solar
Helping a hands-on homeowner embrace rooftop PV
We provided the materials, tools, and guidance to help a German homeowner install 100m2 of PV modules themselves.
Langenberg, Germany
Setting the scene
A homeowner in Langenberg, Germany, wanted to do more than simply install rooftop PV and energy storage at his property: he wanted to install it himself, across his 100 m2 tile roof. In close collaboration with the client, we advised him on how to get started.
Meeting the challenges
A novotegra clamping system was used to mount PV modules, arranged using Solar-Planit. In the end, the project required one extra shipment of roof hooks which we were able to ship quickly. With our guidance, the project was planned in 15 hours and implemented by one person in 60 hours.
The result
The property now produces 24.54kWp of solar power, with on-site storage facilities to make efficient use of that energy.
"It’s hugely encouraging seeing a customer so motivated to embrace renewables that they want to install the modules personally. We’re always happy to help people realise their energy ambitions, by whatever means they choose."
