Elegance meets efficiency: PV for an aesthetic residential building

Functionality and aesthetics combined thanks to the novotegra façade system

Nine modules were installed in three different orientations on the four-part zinc sheet metal roof. The remaining modules were perfectly integrated into the façade of the modern residential installation.

Setting the scene

Watt Solar chose BayWa r.e. to distribute the necessary equipment to carry out this incredible installation in Castelldefels, Barcelona. It was very important for the house owner to achieve energy independence while maintaining the aesthetic design of their home.

Meeting the challenges

The greatest challenge for the installation was the design of the photovoltaic solar field. With a four-part zinc sheet metal roof with a 33º incline, the decision was made to install nine modules with three different alignments: east, south and west. The novotegra mounting system for seamed metal roofs with black aluminium profiles was used for this. As there was insufficient space, it was decided to install the remaining modules on the façade using the novotegra mounting system for façades, which resulted in an impeccable finish.

Eighteen modules were arranged on the south facade and four on the west.

The result

A total of 22 modules were installed on the façade and nine modules on the roof, with a total of 13.49 kWp, and should provide the homeowner with around 70 % energy independence. In the event of a power outage, the energy flow is maintained so that certain devices can be supplied with electricity.
