Supporting Tetra Pak towards „zero emissions” goal

Rooftop solar: The total package

Global packaging giants, Tetra Pak, are striving to lead their sector’s energy transition. In collaboration with BayWa r.e. AG, they used novotegra to add 846 kWp of solar power to the roof of their facility in Rubiera, Italy.

Setting the scene

Working to decarbonise their whole value chain, Tetra Pak take a seriously proactive approach to addressing climate change. They tackle everything from educating suppliers to post-consumer recycling. Their operations are no different. We were approached to mount hundreds of photovoltaic modules onto one of their packaging plants.

Challenges

We’d already successfully completed a very similar project some years ago. Because of this, we had the processes and relationships in place to move quickly and present the best design during the tender process. Utilising our novotegra system and our skilled team we made the project a success.

Result

The Rubiera facility now generates 980,000 kWh per year. That translates to 580 tonnes less CO2 being produced every single year. As part of Tetra Pak’s global emissions strategy, it’s a vital piece of an impressive international climate effort.

  • Due to the flexibility of the mounting system, the roof area could be optimally utilised
