Setting the scene
Located in Sweden, Solna Bikupan “The Beehive” is more than just a parking garage; it’s a symbol of innovative, sustainable urban design. Its distinctive cylindrical shape is adorned with greenery, electric vehicle charging stations, and solar panels, all contributing to a reduced environmental impact. As one of the finalists for the prestigious Urban Environment Award 2024, Bikupan is a standout for its integration of eco-friendly technologies. novotegra played a key role in bringing this vision to life with a solar mounting system specially designed for green roofs.
Meeting the challenges
The project’s unique design called for a specialized approach. novotegra provided a green roof mounting system tailored to work with sedum, ensuring the solar panels seamlessly integrated with the greenery. This setup required precision and careful planning to maintain the balance between the building’s aesthetic appeal and its sustainability goals. With on-site support from novotegra’s team, the system was installed flawlessly, allowing the 172 solar panels to efficiently capture energy while complementing the building’s environmental focus.
