How 192 households in Pozuelo de Alarcón are working together to use the sun to generate their own energy
In a flagship project for collective self-consumption, over 80% of the residents of a neighbourhood in Madrid are turning to solar energy. With modern technology, community commitment and a clear goal in mind: clean energy, lower costs and a sustainable future.
Madrid, Spain
In Pozuelo de Alarcón, a suburb of Madrid, over 80% of a neighbourhood have joined forces to take a step towards a more sustainable future. A total of 192 households are now part of a pioneering collective self-consumption project – they are supplied with clean solar energy generated directly on the roofs of their buildings.
The solar power system behind this project has an impressive output of 492 kW. It was installed on the flat roofs of the buildings using novotegra's Flat roof II mounting system. It was installed facing south with a module inclination of 13 degrees – ideal for capturing sunlight optimally and maximising energy yield.
But that's not all: the system also features a state-of-the-art module-by-module monitoring system. This allows precise control of energy efficiency in real time – every single solar cell can be monitored. This not only keeps performance transparent, but also ensures that confidence in the company's own energy source remains high at all times.
What has been created in Pozuelo de Alarcón is more than just a technical project – it is an example of how community, technology and sustainability can go hand in hand.
