From facade to power source

From a simple warehouse wall to a power source – 160 kWp façade system for sustainable self-sufficiency

Why stop at the roof? At our Tübingen warehouse, we took the next step toward energy independence. Using our own trapezoidal metal insertion system, we transformed the façade into a high-performance PV installation – generating an extra 160 kWp of green power.

Setting the Scene

After completing the PV rooftop system on our new warehouse, we asked ourselves: how could we push our self-sufficiency even further? The answer was right in front of us – the warehouse facade. By tapping into this previously unused space, we could increase our yield without expanding our footprint.

Meeting the Challenges

Facade installations demand special care – wind loads, structural integration, and millimetre-precise alignment all have to be spot-on. That’s where the novotegra metal facade system with trapezoidal bracket came into its own. Originally designed for roofs, it was adapted to securely and stably mount PV modules to the trapezoidal metal wall. The result: a clean, seamless look with maximum stability – delivered quickly and efficiently.

Results

The facade system delivers around 160 kWp of renewable energy directly into our operations. It powers our e-vehicle fleet and warehouse equipment, reduces our reliance on the grid, and cuts our CO₂ footprint. A visible step towards a climate-friendly business – and proof of what’s possible when innovation meets determination.
