Photovoltaics in harmony with nature

How innovative solar technology and ecological diversity work together

In Bözberg, a green roof was fitted with a 21.15 kWp photovoltaic system which, thanks to the novotegra east-west system, efficiently generates electricity while maintaining the green roof.

The project implemented by Stäuble Elektrotechnik AG in the municipality of Bözberg in Switzerland demonstrates how modern photovoltaic technology and ecological responsibility can be combined. A photovoltaic system with an output of 21.15 kWp was installed on a 94 square metre green roof and impresses not only with its efficiency but also with its consideration for nature. The east-west mounting system from novotegra, which was specially developed for the requirements of green roofs, was used.

The roof area is efficiently used for electricity generation without compromising the valuable vegetation. The substructure enables stable and secure installation of the solar modules while leaving sufficient space for light, air and water to pass beneath the modules. This allows the green roof to continue to develop undisturbed, preserving a habitat for plants, insects and other microorganisms. The roof remains green and vibrant while also becoming a source of clean energy.

This project in Bözberg is another example of how sustainable energy generation and nature conservation can go hand in hand. The photovoltaic system reliably supplies electricity, reduces CO₂ emissions and contributes to the local energy supply – without restricting the ecological function of the green roof. It is a win-win situation for the environment, for efficiency and for the future.
