Solar energy for the oldest mint in Germany

A 170 kWp photovoltaic system with the novotegra flat-roof I was installed on the roof of the Hamburg Mint and now leads to a significant reduction in CO2.

The Hamburgische Münze, the oldest mint in Germany, can now cover part of its energy needs with green electricity, thanks to a PV system installed by SAPOtech with an output of 170 kWp. The majority of the energy generated is used directly for minting. The system is supported by our Flat roof I east-west system, which is ideal for gravel roofs such as that of the Hamburgische Münze.

For this project, SAPOtech was able to use the existing gravel for ballasting the substructure. To ensure optimal stability even in strong gusts of wind, it was sufficient to add an additional load of only 10 kg/m² to the flat roof system I, since the gravel and the dead weight of the substructure already provide a high degree of stability. This low additional load does not represent a significant static load for the building.

The roof installation consists of 384 modules, each with 440 Wp, and an inverter with a capacity of 125 kW. 144,000 kWh of electricity will be generated annually, avoiding 47 tonnes of CO₂ emissions. Another important step towards a sustainable future!
