Setting the Scene
Kv Smedjan in Gothenborg, a finalist for Sweden's Building of the Year award, needed a solar solution matching its architectural ambition. Glacell Sverige AB partnered with novotegra to transform the south-facing flat roof into a clean energy asset while maintaining the building's award-worthy design. novotegra’s flat roof II system provided a perfect fit.
Meeting the Challenges
The project planning presented formidable challenges: designing for nordic weather conditions like snow and wind loads required specialized engineering foresight. Specific anchor fasteners were selected to ensure long-term stability. Despite these challenges, the installation was completed in under two months.
Results
The finished 52.36 kWp system with 119 panels now offsets 22,754 kg of carbon annually. Delivered on budget and on schedule, novotegra’s mounting technology proved perfect for the demanding conditions while contributing to the building's environmental credentials and award recognition.
